New Brand Alert!

Bums and breasts look best in Sugarlesque!
We’d like to introduce you to the latest addition to the If You Please family, fabulous, fresh, designer and creator of hand made lingerie Sugarlesque.
Sugarlesque is a London based designer and talented one-woman show. Her creativity and obsession for pretty things has lead to the development of a super-cool and contemporary collection of lingerie, beachwear and quirky matching accessories. She’s currently responsible for the handmade designer pasties you find at Myla and has also previously worked on accessories for What Katie Did.

Every item by this brand is specially hand made to order from the finest fabrics and trims. Orders usually take seven to ten days to get to you, but trust us it’s worth the wait!
Sugarlesque lingerie is completely exclusive to If You Please and we’re delighted to have her on board. This lady is definitely one to watch!

Miss Dita Von Teese, If You Please

We tootled off to Erotica at Earls Court to catch up with some of our brands and have some proper girly fun. The day was eventful to say the least!

We saw some very talented artists such as whiskey-soaked, fire-breathin' Princess of British Burlesque, Kitty Bang Bang, for whom we'll soon be crafting some creative costumes. She did a brilliant 'cat in a wheelie bin' routine, which we very much approved of.

I have to say that the highlight of the evening was meeting Miss Dita Von Teese, then watching her perform her hypnotising new Opium Dreams Routine on stage. Here's a picture of her and me, in which I look shiny and a little bit mental (I was quite star struck).

And a shot of her fabulous performance.

Oh what a night!

All I can say is wow, what a spectacular evening our launch party turned out to be! Thank you to everyone who made it, you all looked gorgeous.

The event was held at the glitzy London club Movida and began with a glitter-dusted cocktail reception, courtesy of Martini Gold. In keeping with If You Please’s retro image, the cocktails were vintage-inspired, served in old fashioned Martini glasses and were extra strong. I have to admit, our heads were a little bit sore the following morning.
Our IYP models work the catwalk, styled by Kaizo hair salon and Talita, make up artist and writer of The Gloss Goss.

'Naughtycal' Burlesque sensation Ditzy Golitzy shimmies and high-kicks wearing If You Please lingerie.
The finale acts were the wonderful Miss Betty Burlesque and Miss Banbury Cross. Let's leave the pictures to do the talking ; )

London Fashion Week, SS 2011

We headed over to Somerset House to check out Lingerie Boudoir and mooch about the stands for some SS 2011 inspiration.

You can imagine my excitement when I came across Jean Paul Gaultier's new collaboration with La Perla. Hitting the shops in November, the collection consists of opulent, hand-embellished silk cinchers, corsets and conical bras, reminiscent of the haute couture lingerie he created for Madonna's Confessions tour in 1990. Regretfully, a little too expensive to be stocked at If You Please (a bra starts at around £405 and corsets £811) but you can find it at Harrods if you feel like treating yourself!

We managed to have a good old natter with the ladies from Damaris and pick out some of their fab new Mimi Holliday ranges for Spring. Think cute, retro polka dots and indulgent laces. There's a bridal range in their too for those who are planning to get hitched next year ; )

We also checked out a few potential new brands for IYP and found ourselves some fab swimwear for next season. I can't give too much away but, true to our trademark style, we're going with retro shapes and bold prints. Think Beyonce in her Why don't you love me video.

Trend-wise, the overall look was all things 60's with a bit of Brit-pop thrown in. Big pants are in ladies! Retro ladieswear silhouettes will be seen in the form of pencil skirts, pea coats and high neck shifts, alongside Jackie O style accessories. We love the new eyewear range by Orla Kiely!

And finally, we came across this little gem. Dalston based milliner Piers Atkinson brings us truly beautiful and artistic creations in the form of huge floral hats, bands, masks and fascinators. Ever wondered where Paloma Faith gets her head wear from? You guessed it. If you hadn't already heard of him, check him out, he's definitely one to watch!
