Student Showcase: January

I'm always eager to promote up and coming talent, so I thought what better way to do so than to showcase the work of one brilliant student each month.

Our January entry is London College of Fashion's, Contour Design student Jessica Preece.

Obsessed with lingerie since the age of 14, Jess (pictured wearing her own design) has experience working for the likes of fashion designer Hermione De Paula and Bunnies Forever and previously worked as a sales assistant in our Camden Lock boutique. Apart from being a joy to work with, she's also very talented and has recently come up with her own shapewear and products for a live swimwear competition set by Speedo (pictured in black) in which she was asked to re-design their obsolete LzrRacer olympic suit.

Jess is currently taking a year out to work as an intern at Agent Provocateur's London HQ. At the moment she's working in production and doing PA duties for new head honcho Sarah Shotton, but will shortly be moving on to design to put her talent into action. She also writes her own blog Ruby Slippers and Silky Knickers, about all things fashion and contour. You can read it by clicking the link.

Pin Up Hair & Makeup with Kaizo and The Gloss Goss

We recently held our launch party at sparkly club Movida in Central London. Our troupe of gorgeous lingerie models sashayed down the illuminated catwalk in a selection of vintage inspired lingerie from If You Please, each sporting fabulous pin up hair-styles and make up.

The hair was all thanks to a very talented bunch of stylists from Kaizo in Shoreditch, who took inspiration from images of 50’s and 60’s beauties Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn, Catherine Deneuve and Marylin Monroe. As well as doing a fantastic job of our styling, they also treated our launch party guests to special discount vouchers for treatments at their salon. Lucky people! If you were there and you still have yours then make sure you book yourself in before Christmas. Who wouldn’t want pin up hair at their Christmas party? Kaizo is at 67-68 Charlotte Road, London, EC2A 3PE. Click here to book.

Make up was courtesy of make up artist Talita, who also writes the glamorous cosmetics blog TheGlossGoss.com. She appeared as a model in our lingerie showcase and apart from looking absolutely gorgeous herself (she’s the one in the red with the amazingly long legs) she did a fantastic job of transforming our pretty ladies in to sizzling modern day pin-ups!

To achieve the look Talita used:
-Chanel Matt Lumiere Foundation
-Mac Eyeshadow for eyes and eyebrows, brule on the lid and vanilla on the brow
-Becca Duende Bronzer
-L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara and Ardell False Lashes (top lashes only)
- Mac Dolly mix blush
- Various red lipsticks, YSL Rouge Volupte no17, no16 & Lancome 130

For more of Tali’s make up tips and for up to date info on great new products and offers, follow her blog The Gloss Goss. We can’t get enough of it!

If You Please at Vintage Vogue

We packed up our troubles in our old kit bags and set off for Brentwood for a fun packed day of 40's 'Vintage Vogueing'.

The Essex Vintage Vogue Fair is the original and largest vintage and retro fashion fair in Britain. It holds a fabulous and very affordable array of clothing, shoes, jewelery and homeware and is visited by fans from all over the UK. Unlike your city thrift stores the goods on offer seem to be of high quality, they've obviously been carefully selected by people who really know their stuff. We met some really great people, both customers and enthusiasts, all of which were ridiculously stylish! It was nice to meet lovely people who take the style of previous decades seriously and don't mind dressing up for the occasion.

We’ll definitely be getting involved again. The next event is on Sunday 5th April. You can follow the link for more information. See you there!
